Maw's Chicken Gravy Recipe
Ingredients
* flour
* 1 whole chicken, cut
up
* cooking oil
* 1 quart milk
Directions
Coat chicken pieces with flour
and fry in hot oil until done. Remove chicken and let cool
enough to handle. Remove meat from bones, discarding skin,
grisle and bones. Add enough flour to pan drippings, scraping
up all browned bits in skillet, to make paste for gravy. Add
milk slowly, stirring constantly, Add chicken meat and continue
stirring and cooking until gravy is of desired thickness.
Remove from heat. Serve over split fresh made
biscuits.
A 97 year old lady gave me
this recipe - told me she made it every Saturday morning until
she finally got tired of it around 50 years.
